Top electric trucks for 2024. EV trucks are hot

As excitement builds around the anticipated electric truck market, we decided to put together a list of the top 7 trucks of 2024. So, let’s get straight into it with one you probably have yet to see!

The Canoo Electric Truck!

Why does a truck have to look like a traditional truck? Canoo took a clean-sheet approach to design a new truck, and the 2024 Canoo EV Truck is the result. It departs from conventional truck design and embraces a minimalist and functional approach.

The Canoo EV Truck’s design is characterized by its clean lines and understated aesthetics, emphasizing functionality and versatility. Its modular platform allows for various cargo configurations, catering to work and lifestyle needs. The truck’s interior prioritizes user experience, offering a spacious, comfortable cabin with intuitive controls and many connectivity features. The Canoo EV Truck focuses on simplicity and practicality, providing a fresh and distinctive take on the traditional truck design.

While exact performance details of the Canoo EV Truck are still being tweaked, it is expected to have 500 horsepower and be able to put that power down in a smooth, quiet fashion. Available in rear or all-wheel drive, the Canoo should be capable of carrying up to 1800 pounds and reaching an estimated 200 miles fully charged. As a purpose-built electric truck, the Canoo EV Truck is designed to maximize efficiency, contributing to its range and overall sustainability.

Following the same logic of why does a truck have to look like a traditional truck, we have the Tesla Cybertruck.

The Cybertruck has taken the automotive industry by storm, offering a bold and unconventional take on the traditional truck design.

The Cybertruck’s design departs from conventional trucks, featuring a stainless steel exoskeleton and sharp angles that give it an otherworldly appearance. The last vehicle to use stainless steel body panels was the Delorean.

Tesla brags about its robust construction, providing exceptional durability and resistance to dents and scratches. Only time will tell, but we are betting the first bump, or minor impact will cause the insurance companies to re-evaluate their premiums on these trucks, as the repair bills are anticipated to be thousands of dollars higher than a standard vehicle.

Inside, the Cybertruck offers a minimalist and spacious interior featuring a large touchscreen infotainment system, advanced driver-assistance features, and a unique digital interface that exemplifies Tesla’s commitment to cutting-edge technology.

The Cybertruck boasts impressive performance capabilities. With three motor options and exceptional torque, the Cybertruck accelerates with lightning speed, outperforming many gasoline-powered trucks. If that wasn’t enough, Tesla rates the towing at a whopping 14,000 pounds and the range is anticipated to be 500 miles. That makes it a formidable competitor in the truck market.

The 2024 Tesla Cybertruck is a revolutionary and polarizing entry into the truck market. Its unconventional design, electrifying performance, advanced technology, and access to Tesla’s Supercharger network make it a standout option for those seeking a cutting-edge, eco-friendly truck. The Cybertruck sets a new standard for electric trucks and pushes the boundaries of what is possible in automotive design and functionality.

While the Cybertruck is years behind schedule, the Ford F-150 Lightning is available today.

Ford took a different approach than most manufacturers. Having the best-selling pickup in the world, Ford opted to treat the electric powertrain as more of an option than designing an entirely new vehicle.

The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning’s interior is similar to any premium F-150, except for a few extra power socks. The exterior has subtle differences but keeps the same overall appearance as any other F-150. When you have something people love, why change it?

The F-150 Lightning delivers impressive performance thanks to the dual electric motors. It reaches 0 to 60 in 4 seconds, making it one of the quickest Ford vehicles. With a towing capacity of up to 10,000 pounds, it rivals its gasoline-powered counterparts, though its range will undoubtedly take a hit while towing.

And if we are being honest at this point, We do not believe that anyone looking to tow regularly should be looking at an electric vehicle. There are so many factors that cause the battery range to be inconsistent, and having to stop and charge every hour and a half isn’t logical. Not only will it take a toll on the battery life, but it will take a toll on you.

The 2024 Lightning range is up to 300 miles, providing ample distance for daily driving and beyond when not towing. The Lightning’s advanced battery technology enables fast charging, with the ability to add approximately 41 miles of range in just 10 minutes at a rapid charging station. Thanks to the recent deal with Tesla, Tesla’s supercharger network is also available!

On the other side of Detroit, MOPAR loyalists can breathe a sigh of relief with the new Ram 1500

Revolution EV. This truck aims to combine the power and capability of a traditional Ram 1500 with the eco-friendliness of electric power. With impressive towing capacity, a spacious and luxurious interior, and a claimed range of up to 500 miles with the range extender, the Revolution aims to cater to both practical and comfort-seeking truck enthusiasts.

The 2024 Ram 1500 Revolution retains the iconic look of the RAM, with some subtle design tweaks to reflect its electric power plant. We don’t have specific details regarding the towing and payload ratings; the Revolution is expected to provide remarkable hauling capability. However, unlike competitors, the Rev will be available with a larger battery pack, easing range concerns for towing.

The 2024 Ram 1500 Revolution showcases the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility. With its powerful performance, luxurious interior, and the benefits of electric propulsion, the Revolution redefines expectations in the electric truck segment. As Ram expands charging infrastructure and provides more details regarding towing and payload capacities, the Revolution promises to be a compelling option for truck enthusiasts seeking power and eco-friendliness.

Next up is a slew of GM vehicles.

General Motors has recently developed an entirely new electric platform called the Ultium platform. This platform will serve as the basis for a host of body styles. The Ultrium platform can be thought of as a rolling chassis. This platform includes the batteries, suspension, motors, and everything else needed to move a vehicle.

From there, the different brands can build their own bodies on top to create various vehicles. In GM’s imagination, this platform will be the basis for trucks, SUVs, and even some cars. With this flexibility, GM can cut development time and cost while responding to consumer demand quicker.

The hallmark design feature of these new vehicles will be the unibody design. This is because the Ultium platform is a structural element in the overall design. GM has lots of experience creating large vehicles that provide creative ways to reconfigure to meet user needs. Designs like the Avalanche and the Envoy XUV have tested GM’s engineers on how good they are at Tetris. While not all of these have been successful, they have all been excellent learning experiences.

First up, the all-new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV!

The 2024 Silverado EV is a modern version of the Chevrolet Avalanche. The exterior has been streamlined to reduce drag. Chevrolet managed to obtain the lowest drag coefficient of any full-size production truck. Paired with the 24-inch wheels, rear sail panel, and grill-less look, the Silverado EV is guaranteed to stand out.

But don’t think the new Silverado EV cannot get the job done. With 664 horsepower and 780 foot pounds of torque, this thing is a beast. This is possible thanks to the two permanent-magnet motors connected to a single speed reduction gearbox. This combination will propel the Silverado from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds.

Next up is the 2024 GMC Sierra EV!

It should come as no surprise the Sierra EV is built off of the same Silverado EV architecture. The GMC will feature more high-end materials and a slightly upscale look and feel, offering the same amazing performance as the Silverado EV.

Having the ability to jump-start your buddy, quickly charge your truck, or run your power tools at the job site, are just some of the amazing features of this new platform.

Next up, the 2024 Hummer EV

The crab-walking Hummer EV is not something you see every day, but it is something the Ultium platform offers. The previous Hummers left something to be desired when it comes to performance. The new EVs are power-hungry.

The new EV actually offers up to three motors and 1,000 horsepower. Yes, you heard that right. 1,000 horsepower production truck here. And that is 1,000 electric horsepower, meaning torque is instant, and smiles are guaranteed.

If, for some reason, you are bored while driving, the new EV comes with Super Cruise, which is their self-driving feature! On the other hand, if you want to enjoy the drive and let the wind blow through your hair, the removable roof panels certainly do the trick.

There is a lot to like about this new EV, and we are excited to see how it does long term. The new 2024s are already on the road.

If you are in the market, what trucks are you comparing? Gas vs. electric or electric vs. electric?
